[Watch] Minnu Mani’s stunning diving catch sends Hayley Matthews packing for 1 in IND-W vs WI-W 1st T20I 2024

Indian substitute fielder Minnu Mani produced a moment of brilliance in the field, taking a spectacular diving catch while running backwards to dismiss West Indies captain Hayley Matthews in the first T20I of the three-match series on Sunday, December 15. The match is being played at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai.

The dismissal occurred on the second ball of the second over of West Indies' innings. Titas Sadhu bowled a length delivery around off stump, and Matthews attempted a pull shot but got more height than distance.

Mani sprinted back diagonally to her right from mid-on, keeping her eyes fixed on the ball, and made a superb diving catch. Matthews was dismissed for just one run off five balls, leaving West Indies at 2-1 after 1.2 overs.

Meanwhile, chasing 196, Matthews' opening partner, Qiana Joseph, narrowly missed a half-century, scoring 49 off 33 balls with five boundaries and three sixes. Shemaine Campbelle (13) and Chinelle Henry (7) were dismissed cheaply.

At the time of writing, the visitors were 113/4 after 14 overs, with Deandra Dottin (40) and Shabika Gajnabi (1) at the crease, requiring 81 runs from the final six overs to win.
