[Watch] Mitchell Marsh shatters solar panel on stadium’s roof with out-of-ground six in AUS vs ENG T20 World Cup clash

Australia captain Mitchell Marsh shattered a solar panel on the stadium’s roof with a huge six in the T20 World Cup match against defending champions England. The match took place at the Kensington Oval in Barbados on Saturday, June 8. The ball hit the solar panel installed on the roof before bouncing out of the ground.

The outrageous shot came in the ninth over of Australia’s innings. Adil Rashid bowled a short ball and Marsh nailed the pull shot out of the ground. The ball bounced on the roof of the Greenidge-Haynes stand.

Sharing the video on Instagram, ICC captioned the post:

“Mitchell Marsh has left his mark on the Kensington Oval.”

In the match, Mitchell Marsh scored 35 runs off 25 balls with the help of two sixes and as many fours. With the knock, the 32-year-old also returned to form after a string of low scores in his last few T20Is with scores reading – 14, 4, and 18, respectively. He had also looked below-par in IPL 2024, scoring 61 runs in four games before being ruled out due to an injury.


Australia set a 202-run target for England in T20 World Cup

A clinical batting display helped Australia post 201/7 against England in the T20 World Cup match. Openers Travis Head and David Warner chipped in with 34 (18) and 39 (16), adding a 70-run partnership for the opening wicket. Apart from Marsh, Marcus Stoinis and Glenn Maxwell also chipped in with 30 (17) and 28 (25), respectively. Matthew Wade stayed unbeaten on 17 off 10.

Chris Jordan emerged as the pick of England bowlers, returning with two wickets but conceded 44 runs. Moeen Ali, Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid, and Liam Livingstone also shared one each.

2021 winners Australia beat Oman by 39 runs in their T20 World Cup opener. They will next play against Namibia in Antigua on June 11. Meanwhile, England’s opening game against Scotland was abandoned due to rain. They will lock horns with Oman on June 13.
