[Watch] Mitchell Santner takes a stunning diving catch in the deep to dismiss Sam Curran in The Hundred 2024

Northern Superchargers all-rounder Mitchell Santner took an exceptional diving catch to dismiss Oval Invincibles' Sam Curran at The Oval on Friday, August 2. The two sides were involved in a thrilling clash that witnessed the defending champions' unbeaten start to the tournament coming to an end.

Guided by Nicholas Pooran's fifty, the Northern Superchargers posted 145-5 on the board after being put into bat first by Sam Billings. In reply, the hosts struggled in the chase and were soon reduced to 53-3, close to the halfway mark.

Their crisis worsened when Matt Short kickstarted the second half of the innings, prompting Sam Curran to come down the track against a full delivery. The left-handed batter got a decent connection, but could not evade Mitchell Santner running to his right from long-on.

After covering great ground, the New Zealand all-rounder dived to grab the ball inches from the ground and complete a stellar catch.

Have a look at the brilliant piece of fielding right here:

Sam Curran, who recently scored his maiden T20 ton for Surrey in the Vitality T20 Blast, could only chip in with two runs off three deliveries during the run chase. The dismissal left the Oval Invincibles at 59-4 after 54 deliveries.

Santner claimed another catch and conceded only 24 runs off 20 deliveries, taking one wicket

The Northern Superchargers put in a spirited bowling effort to defend the score despite a late scare by Donovan Ferreira. Santner was economical in his spell, conceding only 24 runs, and took the wicket of opposition skipper Sam Billings.

The Kiwi International also claimed a skier at deep cover to dismiss Tom Curran towards the end of the contest.

Following a tame loss to open their campaign, the Northern Superchargers have recorded two wins in a row, both against former champions. The Harry Brook-led side under the guidance of Andrew Flintoff, currently lie fourth in the points table.
