[Watch] Moeen Ali cleans up Sunil Narine with a peach in TKR-GAW CPL 2024 clash

Guyana Amazon Warriors (GAW) off-spinner Moeen Ali produced a classic spinner's delight to dismiss Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) opener Sunil Narine in the 2024 Caribbean Premier League (CPL) clash on Wednesday, September 18. Chasing a moderate 149 for victory, TKR raced to 12/0 after one over, with Narine smashing a maximum and a boundary off Dwaine Pretorius.

However, GAW skipper Shai Hope brought Ali into the attack in the second over and the move immediately paid dividends. From around the wicket, he pitched the ball on the leg stump and got it to turn square to beat Narine's defense and hit the top of the off-stump.

Here is a video of the dream delivery from Moeen Ali to dismiss the dangerous Narine:

Ali had only recently been signed up by GAW to replace Pakistan batter Saim Ayub. After going wicketless in his first outing, the 37-year-old finished with figures of 1/5 in two overs against TKR.

With the bat, Ali has scored 33 and 11 in his two CPL 2024 matches after setting the 2024 Hundred on fire with his all-round performances.

TKR overcome Narine's early loss to script a thrilling win

Despite losing Narine early, TKR fought back to pull off a thrilling five-wicket win in the last over against defending champions GAW.

In a repeat of last year's CPL final, TKR avenged their crushing defeat in style, thanks to late-game heroics from veteran all-rounder Andre Russell. TKR were reduced to 89/5 in 15 overs following the dismissal of in-form batter Nicholas Pooran for 19.

With the pitch becoming more challenging by the over, TKR still required 60 off the final five overs. However, Russell brought out his A-game in time to smash a brilliant 15-ball 36* with the aid of four maximums and a boundary.

He was well supported by Aussie big-hitter Tim David, who finished unbeaten on 31 from 24 deliveries and hit the winning runs. With 12 runs needed off the final over, David smoked two sixes off Keemo Paul to seal the deal.

The victory propelled TKR to second place on the points table with four wins in five matches, while it was the second consecutive defeat for GAW after winning their first three games.
