[Watch] Mohammad Amir uproots the stumps with a searing delivery to dismiss Sunil Narine in TKR vs ABF CPL 2024 clash
Antigua and Barbuda Falcons (ABF) pacer Mohammad Amir castled Sunil Narine of the Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) during the 20th match of the 2024 Caribbean Premier League (CPL). The all-rounder departed after scoring just four runs on Thursday, September 19, in Trinidad to extend his barren run with the bat.
ABF skipper Chris Green had won the toss and elected to bowl first, with Amir being handed the new-ball responsibilities. The left-arm pacer from Pakistan was struck for a four by Narine off the third delivery of the opening over but made a resounding comeback with a wicket off the next ball.
Narine was rooted to the crease against a fullish delivery by Amir. The left-handed batter displayed no footwork and was pinned against the delivery that came into him. He tried to awkwardly fend it off towards the leg side but the ball was too quick and hit the stumps after a deflection from the pad. The resulting scene was a huge mess, with both the middle and the off stumps being uprooted. Have a look at the dismissal right here:
In the reverse fixture (September 5), Narine was dismissed for a four-ball duck. Following a prolific IPL 2024 campaign with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), he has not tasted success at the top of the order. In the ongoing CPL season, he has only 67 runs in six matches at a strike rate of 163.41.
He was recently dismissed off a peach of a delivery by Moeen Ali during the clash against the Guyana Amazon Warriors.
Mohammad Amir ends with figures of 1-31 as ABF complete the double over TKR in CPL 2024
The early dismissal set the tempo up for ABF as they restricted the opposition to 134-8 in the first innings. Despite being clobbered by Kieron Pollard in the penultimate over, the Pakistan pacer ended with decent figures of 1-31.
Sunil Narine tried to make amends for his no-show with the bat and bowled a tight spell of 1-20, including a maiden. However, the total did not prove to be enough as ABF chased it down with an over to spare.
The contest saw a controversial moment where Imad Wasim was declared out LBW by the DRS despite the ultra edge showing a spike. The decision was reversed after Wasim made his way back to the pavilion, leading to a chaotic scenario all around.
