[Watch] Mohammad Haris hits a 6 with the back side of the bat against fast bowler Asitha Fernando in LPL 2024 Qualifier 2

Mohammad Haris played an unbelievable shot in the Lanka Premier League Qualifier 2 between Kandy Falcons and Jaffna Kings on Saturday, July 20. Playing for Kandy, Haris fearlessly tried a reverse scoop against fast bowler Asitha Fernando in the sixth over of the innings.

With third man inside the circle, Mohammad Haris was guaranteed a boundary if he timed the reverse scoop well. However, the Kandy batter could not flip his bat perfectly. The ball hit the backside of his bat, but still cleared the boundary rope and went for a six.

Asitha Fernando had a smile on his face as he could not believe that the batter hit him for a six with the backside of his willow. Even Mohammad Haris looked at the bowler with a smile. You can watch the video here:

It is rare to see batters clearing the boundary against fast bowlers with a reverse scoop, but Haris managed to do so with the backside of his bat. He was dismissed by Vijayakanth Viyaskanth in the 11th over after scoring 26 runs off 20 balls, smacking one four and two sixes in his knock.

Mohammad Haris' efforts ended in a losing cause in LPL 2024 Qualifier 2

Despite his twin maximums, Haris could not guide the Kandy Falcons to the LPL 2024 Final. The Falcons fell one run short against the Jaffna Kings in Qualifier 2 played on Saturday at the R Premadasa Stadium.

Batting first, the Kings reached 187/7, thanks to an unbeaten century from opener Kusal Mendis. In response, the Falcons managed 186/8 in 20 overs. Andre Fletcher, Kamindu Mendis, and Ramesh Mendis scored thirties for the Falcons. However, eventually, the Kings kept their nerve and won by the smallest of the margins.

The Kings will now take on the Galle Marvels in the final on Sunday, July 21. The match will begin at 7.30pm IST at the R Premadasa Stadium.
