[Watch] Mohammad Rizwan departs for a 12-ball duck in 1st ENG vs PAK Test

Pakistan's Mohammad Rizwan was dismissed for a duck by Jack Leach on Day 2 of the first Test against England in Multan. This marked the fourth time he departed without scoring a run in Tests after his international red-ball career began with a golden duck against New Zealand in 2016.

Rizwan came into the crease at No. 7 after nightwatchman Naseem Shah played a huge hand by surviving 81 deliveries. The wicketkeeper-batter had an excellent opportunity to extend his solid run of form since the pitch was perfect for batting. After a rigid start where he failed to get off the mark against Brydon Carse and Gus Atkinson, he tried to take on Jack Leach.

Rizwan stepped down the track against a full delivery to score over mid-off. However, he failed to get the elevation right, resulting in a simple catch for Chris Woakes.

Have a look at the dismissal right here:

The last time Pakistan hosted England in Multan, back in 2022, Rizwan was dismissed by Leach on that occasion too.

Pakistan end first session of Day 2 on 397-6 after Rizwan's dismissal

Resuming from their overnight score of 328-4, Saud Shakeel built on his start by reaching his half-century and had a reliable partner at Naseem Shah at the other end. The bowlers had to toil hard yet again on a flat surface, which did not offer any movement or turn.

The relatively new ball was redundant as Pakistan eased through the session without major hiccups. The Men in Green will look to post as much as possible on the board to put pressure on England during their turn with the bat.

Shakeel is unbeaten on 67 off 133 deliveries, while all-rounder Salman Ali Agha has walked out to bat as the last recognized batter. After maintaining an intent-driven approach for most of the opening day, the scoring rate has dropped with only 69 runs scored in 26 overs in the first session on Day 2.
