[Watch] Mohammed Shami picks up 3 wickets for Bengal against Madhya Pradesh in 2024-25 Ranji Trophy

Team India and Bengal pacer Mohammed Shami picked up three wickets in the second innings against Madhya Pradesh in Match 5 of the Ranji Trophy group stage. The 34-year-old's three-fer helped Bengal register an 11-run win yesterday (November 16).

Defending 338, Shami opened the attack but went wicketless until the 38th over. His first wicket came when he trapped Anubhav Agarwal (2 off 4) in front of the sticks. Shami accounted for his second wicket soon after, clean bowling Rajat Patidar (32 off 44).

Shami then struck the final blow, having Kumar Karthikeya (6 off 12) caught by Rohit Kumar to end the match and help Bengal win their first game after three draws. In total, Shami took seven wickets in the match, with a four-fer in the first innings to go along with the three scalps in the second.

Mohammed Shami also had an excellent outing with the bat in the second innings against Madhya Pradesh. Coming in at number 10 after the fall of Wriddhiman Saha's wicket, Shami wasted no time, scoring a blistering 37 off 36 balls. His quick-fire innings included two fours and two towering maximums.

In the first innings, Shami registered figures of 4/54. He bowled Madhya Pradesh skipper Shubman Sharma and then ran through the tail, dismissing Saransh Jain, followed by Kumar Karthikeya and Kulwant Khejroliya off consecutive deliveries.
