On the first ball of the 12th over, the Bangladesh skipper chased a ball outside the off stump off the bowling of Siraj. He got a thick edge and Virat Kohli in the slip cordon did well to get low and complete the catch.

Bangladesh won the toss in the first Test and decided to bowl first on an overcast day in Chennai on Thursday. The visitors had a great start to the day as they reduced Team India to 34/3, dismissing Rohit Sharma (6 off 19), Shubman Gill (0 off 8), and Virat Kohli (6 off 6) cheaply.

A fine hundred under pressure from hometown hero Ravichandran Ashwin (113 off 133) and fifties from Ravindra Jadeja (86 off 124) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (56 off 118) propelled the hosts to 376 in their batting essay.

Team India started strong with the ball as Jasprit Bumrah picked up the wicket of Shadman Islam in the first over. Akash Deep struck twice in the over before lunch. Mohammed Siraj made a name for himself in the wickets column before Jasprit Bumrah came back to prize out Mushfiqur Rahim.

The visitors are 67/5 after 20 overs, with Shakib Al Hasan and Litton Das looking to pull things back for them.
