Mohammed Siraj goes off the field clutching his hamstring on Day 2 of BGT 2024-25 3rd Test

Team India pacer Mohammed Siraj had to walk off the field due to an issue with his hamstring in the first session on Day 2 of the third Border-Gavaskar series Test at The Gabba in Brisbane. The injury scare happened during the 37th over of the innings on Sunday, December 15.

Siraj bowled a prolonged spell, having seized one end since the 24th over. The right-arm pacer tested the Australian batters with his intensity and his bowling areas. He was also involved in a slight altercation with Marnus Labuschagne midway through his spell.

Siraj clutched his hamstring during his follow-through after bowling the second delivery of the 37th over. He had a glance at the pitch where he landed before grimacing and hobbling. The medical staff came out to assess the situation, and in a concerning sight for the Indian contingent, he walked off the field altogether.

His figures remained stranded at 10.2-4-28-0 while he was bowling his seventh over on the trot in the prolonged spell.

The hot and humid conditions in Brisbane might have led the viewers to believe that it was a routine cramp, but such issues do not require a bowler to walk off the field altogether.

Mohammed Siraj was fired up after being on the receiving end of boos by a raucous crowd in Brisbane. The pacer was villainized by fans and media after his actions in the second Test in Adelaide, which included a send-off to Travis Head, which led to a fine and a demerit point.

Mohammed Siraj returns to the field but is yet to bowl in the second session

Mohammed Siraj returned to the field before the lunch break in the 41st over but did not resume his spell. Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep shared the ball to begin the second session, with Siraj expected to come into the picture soon to relieve the pair.

As of writing, Australia are placed at 115-3 after 46 overs, with Travis Head and Steve Smith building a partnership against the old ball.
