Mohammed Siraj provided a stunning start for India on Day 4 of the ongoing first Test against Australia in Perth on Monday, November 25. As a result, Usman Khawaja walked back for just 4 to leave the Aussies reeling at 17/4 after resuming the day at 12/3.
The dismissal came in the sixth over of Australia’s chase. Siraj fired a short ball around the chest and Khawaja tried to play a pull shot but only managed a leading edge. Rishabh Pant quickly covered a lot of ground before completing the catch. The speedster set him up with length balls before cramping him for room.

This was Usman Khawaja’s second failure after getting out for just eight runs in the first essay, caught by Virat Kohli in the slips off Jasprit Bumrah. Meanwhile, Mohammed Siraj scalped his second wicket of the innings after getting rid of Australia skipper Pat Cummins.
Notably, Siraj was bought by Gujarat Titans (GT) for ₹12.25 crore at the two-day IPL 2025 auction on Sunday, November 24.
Mohammed Siraj strikes early, India need six more wickets to win the first Test in Australia
India need six more wickets to win the opening Test after setting up a mammoth 534-run target for Australia on Day 3.
At the time of writing, the hosts were 49/4, with Steve Smith and Travis Head at the crease. Apart from Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah has scalped two wickets as well.
Batting first, India were bundled out for 150, with Josh Hazlewood bagging a four-wicket haul. The tourists then fought back to wrap up Australia for 104 to gain a 46-run lead, thanks to a fifer from Bumrah.
In the second innings, India declared at 487/6. Yashasvi Jaiswal top scored with 161 after getting out for a duck in his first innings, while Virat Kohli slammed an unbeaten 100 to overcome his lean patch.
It was Kohli's seventh Test ton Down Under. KL Rahul, who scored 26 in the first essay, also looked impressive with 77, sharing a 201-run opening partnership with Jaiswal.
