[Watch] MS Dhoni hits humongous 6 out of ground, gets out next ball in RCB vs CSK IPL 2024 match
Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni failed to finish it off in style against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in their last Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 game at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday. The wicketkeeper-batter scored 25 runs off 13 balls.
The dismissal came in the last over of CSK's run chase. Dhoni smashed a massive six out of the stadium towards the fine leg off Yash Dayal before falling off the next ball. He tried to nail another shot for a maximum towards the deep backward square leg but failed to time the slower ball as Swapnil Singh took an impressive catch.

MS Dhoni finished with 161 runs in 14 matches in what is rumored to be his last IPL season. However, CSK's batting coach Mike Hussey has backed Dhoni to play for two more years. He recently told ESPNCricinfo:
"From a personal point of view, I hope he keeps going for another couple of years. But we will just have to wait and see. He is the only one who will make that call. And he likes to sort of build the drama a little bit as well. So I wouldn't expect a decision anytime soon."
RCB beat CSK by 27 runs to qualify for IPL 2024 playoffs
A clinical all-around performance helped RCB beat CSK by 27 runs to qualify for the IPL 2024 playoffs. With over 18-run win, they pipped the defending champions Super King's net run rate (NRR) at 14 points for a place in the top four. It was the ninth time that RCB qualified for the playoffs while CSK missed out on a place in the top four for the third time.
Asked to bat first, RCB posted 218/5 in their allotted 20 overs. Captain Faf du Plessis led from the front, scoring 54 runs off 39 balls, including three sixes and as many boundaries. Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, and Cameron Green also chipped in with 47 (29), 41 (23), and 38* (17), respectively. Meanwhile, Dinesh Karthik and Glenn Maxwell contributed 14 (6) and 16 (5), respectively.
Shardul Thakur bagged two wickets for CSK, while Tushar Deshpande and Mitchell Santner picked up one wicket apiece.
In response, CSK managed 191/7. They got off to a poor start as they lost captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and Daryl Mitchell cheaply. Rachin Ravindra then led the chase, scoring 61 off 37 deliveries with the help of three maximums and five boundaries. He, however, was run out in an unfortunate manner due to a poor call by Shivam Dube.
Ajinkya Rahane also chipped in with 33 off 22, while Dhoni kept them in the game in the last over. Ravindra Jadeja, hero of the IPL 2023 final, finished with an unbeaten 42 off 22, including three sixes and as many boundaries.
Yash Dayal picked up two wickets for RCB, while Glenn Maxwell, Mohammed Siraj, Lockie Ferguson, and Cameron Green scalped one each.
