"Gave me a lot of security" - Jasprit Bumrah on playing under MS Dhoni's captain
MS Dhoni was India's white-ball captain when Jasprit Bumrah made his debut in international cricket during the side's tour of Australia in 2016. Speaking about his debut, Bumrah stated that Dhoni gave him a lot of security.
The speedster also admitted to being nervous before the tour. Bumrah made these remarks during The Indian Express' Express Adda Show. Here's what he said about Dhoni:
"He (Dhoni) gave me a lot of security quickly. When I came to Australia, I had just taken a flight and I didn't know anyone. How do you talk to MS Dhoni first time? You are suddenly playing a game and not practiced with the team. He is one of the guys who has a lot of faith in his instincts and doesn't believe in a lot of planning."
Jasprit Bumrah won't be seen in action during India's upcoming three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. The 30-year-old has been rested by the team management for the tour.
