[Watch] MS Dhoni’s video of playing golf with Donald Trump goes viral after 2024 US election results

An old video of MS Dhoni playing golf with Donald Trump went viral on the internet after the latter won the 2024 elections in the United States of America. Ex-POTS Trump secured the win by defeating presidential candidate Kamala Harris (via FOX News).

As Trump is set to become the 47th US President, MS Dhoni fans dug out a video of the two playing golf together and reshared it on their social media handles.

A fan on X also connected Trump’s victory with the popular “Thala for a reason” phrase that is usually used for Dhoni and his jersey number “7.” He totaled the numbers of the election date (India zone) and brought the tally to 7, thereby linking Trump’s win to the trending cricketing phrase.

“6-11-2024, 6+1+1+2+2+4=16, 1+6=7 ✅ Thala for a reason.”

MS Dhoni set to play IPL 2025

The 10 teams of the Indian Premier League recently announced their player retentions and Chennai Super Kings retained Dhoni as an uncapped player, for INR 4 Cr. The other four cricketers retained by the five-time champions are skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad (INR 18 Cr), all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja (INR 18 Cr), Sri Lankan sensation Matheesha Pathirana (INR 13 Cr), and Shivam Dube (INR 12 Cr).

Before the list of retained players was announced, MS Dhoni, at a promotional event, expressed his desire to play the game and enjoy “whatever last few years of cricket” he can play.

"I just want to enjoy whatever last few years of cricket I am able to play. In our childhood, we used to go out to play at 4pm and enjoy the game. But when you play professional sport, it becomes difficult to enjoy cricket, just like a game. It's not easy. The emotions are there, commitments are there. I want to enjoy the game for the next few years," Dhoni was quoted as saying by Free Press Journal.

The mega auction for the 2025 edition of the IPL will take place on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
