Uncertainty over MS Dhoni's IPL career looms large ahead of the upcoming IPL mega auction
MS Dhoni's retirement from a sport has always been a topic that has been fiercely debated. Many say that the former Team India captain should continue to play. Meanwhile, some counter the argument, stating that he should make way for the younger generation to showcase their abilities.
Without mentioning much, MS Dhoni made a statement about his comeback in IPL 2025. The 43-year-old had the following to say regarding his future:
"The rules and regulations will be made for retentions. There is still a lot of time for all that. We will decide once we get to know about the rules and regulations. The ball is not in our court right now. When the rules get formalized, then we will decide."
Furthermore, he added:
"We will have to make the decision that is best for the team because, at the end of the day, we all want the team to do well. So based on the rules, regulations, and retentions, we will see what is best for CSK, and we will take the best step forward."
Ahead of the last season, Dhoni handed over the captaincy of Chennai Super Kings to Ruturaj Gaikwad. He left captaincy as the most successful captain of the franchise and joint most successful captain of the IPL, winning five IPL trophies.
