[Watch] Muneeba Ali stumped by Richa Ghosh for 17 runs off 26 deliveries in IND vs PAK 2024 Women's T20 World Cup match
Pakistan women's team opening batter Muneeba Ali was outfoxed by Shreyanka Patil and Richa Ghosh in the 2024 Women's T20 World Cup Group A clash against India at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday, October 6. The left-handed batter tried to get going after getting set at the crease in a bid to switch gears in the middle overs, but failed in the process.
Muneeba Ali had to hold one end after wickets tumbled from the other end. After having last scored a boundary in the fifth over, the Women in Green were in desperate need of a spike in scoring.
In the ninth over of the innings, Muneeba Ali stepped down the track to take on Shreyanka Patil after two dot balls to begin with. The off-spinner, however, reduced the pace and dragged the length back. The left-handed batter was committed to the shot, but the ball spun past the bat, and landed straight in the wicket-keeper's gloves.
Richa Ghosh completed a regulation stumping with the batter well out of the crease. Have a look at the stumping right here:
Muneeba Ali departed after scoring 17 runs off 26 deliveries, including two boundaries. Her knock came at a strike rate of 65.38 as she struggled to switch gears after spending considerable time at the crease.
Richa Ghosh grabs a stunner to dismiss Fatima Sana
After being put into bowl first, India made a strong start. Renuka Singh Thakur struck in the first over to put Pakistan under some early pressure, and they never really recovered from that. The Women in Green kept losing wickets at regular intervals while the Indian bowling unit kept chipping away with tight overs to maintain their momentum.
After Muneeba Ali's departure, Pakistan also lost Aliya Riaz and skipper Fatima Sana in quick succession, the latter courtesy of a brilliant take by Richa Ghosh. The wicket-keeper claimed a one-handed stunner after the right-handed batter's stroke claimed an outside edge off Asha Sobhana's bowling.
As of writing, Pakistan are tottering at 70-6 after 14 overs, with the experienced Nida Dar still present at the crease.
