[Watch] Naveen-ul-Haq knocks over Travis Head with an absolute peach during Australia vs Afghanistan T20 World Cup match

Australia got off to the worst possible start to their run chase against Afghanistan in the T20 World Cup 2024 Super Eight match, as they lost the explosive Travis Head for a duck. Naveen-ul-Haq took the new ball and bowled a peach of a delivery to give his team a dream start on Saturday, June 22.

From around the wicket, Naveen got the ball to pitch on a good length on leg stump and Head tried to flick the ball away with the angle over square leg. However, there was just enough late swing to square up the southpaw and castle his stumps.

Here's a video of the dismissal:

Travis Head's reaction after being cleaned up showed how distraught he was and he probably knew that he couldn't have done much about that delivery.

More trouble for Australia as Afghanistan send back Mitchell Marsh too

Naveen-ul-Haq made further dents into Australia's batting as he took the big wicket of skipper Mitchell Marsh. The Afghanistan pacer used the change of pace to great effect by rolling his fingers over the ball and it was right in the slot for Marsh to try the lofted shot over mid-off.

However, the batter didn't pick the slower ball and lobbed it high in the air. Mohammad Nabi completed a good catch at mid-off and the Afghanistan players were understandably fired up with such a start.

The Aussies also ended up losing the wicket of David Warner in the final over of the powerplay and found themselves in dire straits at 33/3 after the end of six overs. They do have two capable explosive players in Marcus Stoinis and Glenn Maxwell at the crease, but cannot afford to lose more wickets.

The Afghans, meanwhile, will know that they need to keep chipping away with wickets at regular intervals, with quality spinners at their disposal.
