Mumbai Indians (MI) left-handed batter Nehal Wadhera stole the show with his batting exploits during the IPL 2024 encounter against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Monday.
Wadhera walked out to bat at No. 6 when Mumbai were reeling at 52/4 in 7.3 overs. The southpaw formed a crucial partnership with Tilak Varma to steady the ship for his team.
The 23-year-old delighted viewers by playing some stunning shots. His six off Avesh Khan's bowling in the 14th over caught the attention of many fans, as he dispatched a slower ball for a maximum despite his bottom hand coming off the handle.

It is worth mentioning that this is Nehal Wadhera's first match in IPL 2024. The talented youngster impressed many with his performances last season, mustering 241 runs across 14 games at a strike rate of 145.18.

Mumbai won the toss and elected to bat first. However, the decision backfired, with their top-order batters failing to make any significant contributions. Sandeep Sharma got rid of Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav, while Rohit Sharma fell to Trent Boult.
Nehal Wadhera showcased great composure under pressure to bail his side out of trouble following a dismal start. His 99-run partnership with Tilak Varma for the fifth wicket brought Mumbai back into the contest.
Wadhera's impactful knock ended in the 17th over. He was dismissed while trying to play the upper cut off a slower ball from Trent Boult. He failed to get the desired connection and was caught by Sandeep Sharma at backward point. The batter missed out on a well-deserved half-century, getting out on 49 in just 24 deliveries. Wadhera hit four sixes and three fours during his stay at the crease.
