[Watch] Nepal captain Rohit Paudel and Tanzim Hasan Sakib give each other death stare, exchange words in BAN vs NEP 2024 T20 World Cup match

Bangladesh pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib gave Nepal captain Rohit Paudel a piercing stare, with the latter returning the favor during their 2024 T20 World Cup game. The match was played at Arnos Vale Ground in Kingstown, St Vincent on Sunday (June 16).

The incident took place during the third over of Nepal’s run chase. Tanzim was high on confidence following a double wicket maiden. He bowled a length ball on off stump and Rohit defended it towards point to finish the over.

Tanzim stared at Rohit, who hit back with a similar reaction, leading to an exchange of words between the duo. Non-striker Aasif Sheikh had to mediate to calm the situation.

Sharing the video on Instagram, the ICC captioned the post:

“Plenty of passion in this crucial clash in St Vincent.”

Bangladesh beat Nepal by 21 runs to qualify for 2024 T20 World Cup second round

Bangladesh beat Nepal by 21 runs in a low-scoring thriller to qualify for the 2024 T20 World Cup Super-Eight round. They qualified alongside South Africa from Group D.

Asked to bat first, the Najmul Hossain Shanto-led side were bundled out for 106 in 19.3 overs. Skipper Rohit Paudel, Sompal Kami, Dipendra Singh Airee, and Sandeep Lamichhane bagged two wickets apiece for Nepal.

Litton Das, Shakib Al Hasan, Mahmudallah, Jaker Ali, Rishad Hossain, and Taskin Ahmed chipped in with double-digit scores to help Bangladesh cross the three-figure mark. They also got 10 runs in extras.

In response, Bangladesh bundled out Nepal for 85 in 19.2 overs. Kushal Malla, Dipendra Singh Airee, and Aasif Sheikh chipped in with 27 (40), 25 (31), and 17 (14). The trio got starts but failed to take their team over the line.

Tanzim Hasan Sakib starred with the ball for Bangladesh, finishing with exceptional figures of 4/7, while Mustafizur Rahman bagged three wickets. Shakib Al Hasan also scalped two wickets.

Bangladesh will next lock horns with 2021 winners Australia in their first Super Eight match at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua on Thursday (June 20).
