Team India captain Rohit Sharma showed his admiration to Virat Kohli after the Men in Blue won the 2024 T20 World Cup. Virat Kohli was having a lean patch in the tournament, but he was brilliant in the final. The right-hander's 76 helped India put up 176-7/
In response, South Africa was cruising, but Indian bowlers came back strongly, with Hardik Pandya leading the way. The Indian all-rounder got rid of Heinrich Klaasen to bring India back into the match. Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh bowled two economical overs as the Proteas found themselves needing 16 off the last over.
Suryakumar Yadav pulled off a stunner to dismiss David Miller on the first ball of the last over. Hardik then held his nerves as the Men in Blue won by seven runs. Following the win, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were spotted hugging and looking very emotional.

It was India’s first ICC trophy since the 2013 Champions Trophy win. Rohit Sharma also became the first captain to win 50 T20Is as he guided India to their second T20 World Cup triumph.
Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma announce retirement from T20Is
After winning the final, Virat Kohli announced that he had played his last T20 game for India when he collected his Player of the Match award. The Indian veteran said:
"This was my last T20 World Cup. This is exactly what we wanted to achieve. One day, you feel like you can't get a run, and this happens. God is great. Just the occasion, now-or-never kind of situation. This was my last T20 game playing for India."
Meanwhile, Rohit announced his retirement in the post-match conference. The Indian opener said that he started playing for India in this format and that it's the best time for him to quit after winning the trophy.
"This was my last game (T20I) as well. No better time to say goodbye to this format. I've loved every moment of this. I started my India career playing this format. This is what I wanted. I wanted to win the cup," the World Cup-winning captain said.
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will continue to play in the other two formats of the game.
