[Watch] Nicholas Pooran smacks 9 maximums in his innings of 97 for Knight Riders in CPL 2024 

Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) batter Nicholas Pooran was at his absolute best during the third match of the Caribbean Premier League 2024 against the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots (SNP). The game took place on Saturday, August 31, at Warner Park in Basseterre, St Kitts.

After SNP won the toss and elected to bowl first, Knight Riders opener Sunil Narine made a notable contribution with 38 off 19 balls, including three fours and four sixes, before being dismissed by Ryan John. Anrich Nortje then removed Jason Roy for six in the fifth over.

Nicholas Pooran, batting at No. 3, took control with a brilliant innings, forming a 122-run partnership with Keacy Carty off just 59 balls for the fourth wicket.

Pooran's innings came to a close just shy of a century, as he was dismissed for 97 off 43 balls, striking seven boundaries and nine sixes.

Meanwhile, Carty remained unbeaten on 73 off 35 balls, hitting nine fours and three sixes, as the Trinbago Knight Riders posted a total of 250-4 in their 20 overs. Anrich Nortje was the standout bowler for St Kitts & Nevis Patriots, claiming two wickets.


Sunil Narine shines with the ball for Knight Riders

Chasing a target of 251, Joshua Little gave TKR an early breakthrough by dismissing St Kitts captain Andre Fletcher for a two-ball duck. Soon after, Little also removed Kyle Mayers for six. Evin Lewis added a valuable 39 off 23 balls, including four fours and two sixes.

Mikyle Louis and Tristan Stubbs then put together a 70-run partnership for the fourth wicket off 42 balls before Louis was dismissed for 56 by Sunil Narine. Stubbs contributed 39 off 19 balls.

Despite their efforts, SNP fell short by 44 runs. Sunil Narine was exceptional with the ball for TKR, taking two wickets and conceding only 24 runs in his four-over spell.
