[Watch] Nuwan Thushara sends back under-fire Devdutt Padikkal for golden duck in MI vs LSG IPL 2024 match
Devdutt Padikkal was dismissed for a golden duck in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Mumbai Indians (MI) at Wankhede on Friday (May 17). That came after Padikkal replaced Quinton de Kock in the playing XI. The left-handed batter was out leg before wicket (lbw) by Nuwan Thushara off the very first ball he faced in the dead rubber.
The dismissal came off the third ball of the Super Giants' innings. Thushara bowled an inswinger on the middle stump and Padikkal looked plumb in front of the stumps. The left-hander was beaten on the inside edge as the ball struck low on the front pad.
The on-field umpire adjudged Padikkal out but the latter challenged the decision after a quick chat with skipper KL Rahul. The replays showed that the ball would've crashed onto the middle and leg stumps. He looked disappointed during his long walk back to the pavilion.

The failure also summed up Padikkal's IPL season as the latter finished with just 38 runs in seven innings. The 23-year-old had come to LSG on a transfer deal worth INR 7.75 crore ahead of the 2024 season.
MI strike early against LSG in IPL 2024 match
Devdutt Padikkal's wicket helped MI get to an impressive start against LSG in their last IPL 2024 match on Friday.
At the time of writing, LSG were 33/1 after 4.1 overs, with KL Rahul and Marcus Stoinis at the crease.
MI are currently languishing at the bottom of the points table with just four wins in 13 games. The five-time champions have been eliminated from the playoffs race. The Hardik Pandya-led side will look to avenge the four-wicket loss against the Super Giants at the Ekana Cricket Stadium earlier this season.
On the other hand, LSG are seventh with 12 points in 13 matches. They will also look to finish the season on a high note after ruining their chance for a place in the playoffs due to a negative net run rate (NRR).
