[Watch] On comeback trail, Mohammed Shami seen bowling a bit of leg spin during practice

Team India pacer Mohammed Shami is working extremely hard towards his international comeback. He has been constantly sharing pictures and videos of his rehabilitation sessions, thus keeping fans updated. Interestingly, in his latest clip, he is even seen bowling a bit of leg spin.

The 33-year-old has been out of action since the 2023 ODI World Cup, in which he was the leading wicket-taker, claiming 24 wickets in seven matches at an average of 10.71, with three five-wicket hauls. In February this year, he underwent surgery on his Achilles tendon.

On Monday, July 22, the fast bowler shared another video of his rehabilitation session in which he is seen working out, bowling hard in the nets and even trying his hand at some spin bowling. The right-arm pacer bowled a leg-spin delivery with a rather smooth action. The cricketer shared the clip on his official Instagram handle, with the caption:

"I like hard situations because they reveal my true potential."

Ajit Agarkar hopeful of Shami making a comeback for Bangladesh Tests

There is still no clarity over when Shami is likely to make his comeback to the Indian team. At a press conference on Monday morning, ahead of the Indian team's departure for the white-ball tour of Sri Lanka, chief selector Ajit Agarkar stated that they are hoping for the pacer to be available for the Test series against Bangladesh in September.

“We more or less know who the guys are, there are some injuries at the moment and hope they will be back up. Shami has started to bowl which is a god sign. September 19 is the first Test and that was always the goal," Agarkar said, as quoted as saying by One Cricket."
"I don't know if that is his timeline for recovery, will have to ask the guys at the NCA about that. There are so many Tests coming. We will need some depth. [Jasprit] Bumrah, Shami, and [Mohammed] Siraj have been around for a while, these are the obvious ones. But there will be some conversation around it," he added.

Bangladesh will tour India for two Tests and three T20Is from September 19 to October 2. India will then host New Zealand for three Tests in October-November.
