Mady Villiers, who was fielding at short mid-wicket, moved to her left and dove full-length to grab a one-handed blinder.
Here’s the video of the stunning catch:
Bryony Smith couldn’t contribute much as she was dismissed for one off two balls and her wicket left the Trent Rockets at 2/2 after eight balls.
Oval Invincibles bowlers' brilliant effort helped restrict Trent Rockets to a low score
Oval Invincibles captain Lauren Winfield-Hill won the toss and chose to bowl first. Marizanne Kapp provided an excellent start as she dismissed Grace Scrivens for a five-ball duck. Soon after, a blinder from Mady Villiers resulted in the wicket of Bryony Smith.
Rachel Slater then took the important wicket of Trent Rockets’ captain Nat Sciver-Brunt. The right-handed batter went for a four-ball duck. Natasha Wraith (14) and Ashleigh Gardner stitched together a 43-run partnership in 31 balls for the fourth wicket before the former was dismissed by Kapp.
Gardner played a brilliant inning of 43 off 26 balls. She was dismissed by Mady Villiers as the Trent Rockets found themselves at 60/5 after 52 balls.
Towards the end of the innings, Sophia Smale took two wickets, shattering the hopes of the Trent Rockets of putting a decent total on the board. The Rockets finished 91/8 in their allotted 100 balls.
