[Watch] Pakistan head coach Jason Gillespie picks up empty bottles left by players after practice session ahead of 3rd PAK vs ENG Test 2024
Pakistan's Test head coach Jason Gillespie picked up empty bottles left behind by players after their training session ahead of the third Test against England. With the series tied at one apiece, the two teams will battle for series honors in Rawalpindi, starting October 24.
The hosts suffered an embarassing innings and 47-run defeat in the opening Test at Multan before bouncing back in the second Test at the same venue to record a 152-run win.
Meanwhile, Gillespie not only picked up the littered bottles left behind, he also disposed them into the recycle bin himself.
Here is a video of the same:
Gillespie took over as Pakistan's Test head coach in April after the side suffered a 0-3 hammering against Australia down under at the start of the year. However, things continued heading south as the Asian side were whitewashed by Bangladesh at home in a two-Test series in his first assignment.
With a sixth conecutive Test defeat overall and a third since Gillespie took over, the pressure was mounting on him and the players. Yet, on a turning wicket, the Pakistan spin duo of Sajid Khan and Noman Ali picked up all 20 wickets to help them finally break out of the losing slump.
Pakistan's second Test win over England was their first at home since 2021
It had not been 'Home Sweet Home' for Pakistan in Tests over the past three years until the second Test win over England last week at Multan.
Since their 2-0 win over South Africa at the start of 2021, Pakistan had not won a home Test match until the Multan outing. During this time, they suffered series defeats to Australia, England and Bangladesh, while settling for a 0-0 draw against New Zealand.
From the end of the 2021 South Africa series to the first England Test, Pakistan had lost seven out of their 11 home Tests with the other four ending in draws.
Their last overall Test series win came in July last year when they defeated Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka by a 2-0 margin.
