Pakistan’s Usama Mir broke the stumps with his bat in a bizarre hit wicket dismissal in The Hundred Men's clash on Thursday, August 1. The match is currently ongoing between Manchester Originals and Southern Brave at the Rose Bowl in Southampton.

The incident occurred off the last delivery of the Manchester Originals’ innings. Chris Jordan bowled a yorker outside off stump and Mir was deep inside his crease. The right-hander ended up hitting the top of the stumps while trying to play the shot, getting hit wicket in one of the bizarre ways possible.

Sharing the post on X, The Hundred’s official handle wrote:

“You don’t see batters get out like this very often! Usama Mir hits his wicket on the final ball of Manchester Originals’ innings.”

Usama scored 11 runs off seven balls with the help of two boundaries. The leg-spinner will be keen to bag his first wicket after returning wicketless in the first two games against Welsh Fire and Trent Rockets.


Manchester Originals set a 117-run target for Southern Brave in The Hundred

Fighting knocks from Wayne Madsen and Jamie Overton helped Manchester Originals post 116/6 against Southern Brave in The Hundred match. Madsen starred with the bat, scoring an unbeaten 43 runs off 37 balls, comprising four boundaries. Overton and Sikandar Raza also chipped in with scores of 25 (19) and 13 (16), respectively. Craig Overton, Tymal Mills, and Chris Jordan picked up two wickets apiece for Southern Brave.

In response, Southern Brave were 55-1 after 32 balls with captain James Vince and Leus du Plooy at the crease.

Manchester Originals began the tournament on a low note as they lost to Welsh Fire and Trent Rockets in their first two matches. They will look to return to winning ways against the Brave. They will next face Northern Superchargers at Headingley in Leeds on August 4.

On the other hand, Southern Brave won their opening game against London Spirit but lost to Northern Superchargers in their previous outing. They will face off against Birmingham Phoenix at Edgbaston in Birmingham on August 3.
