[Watch] Pat Cummins celebrates with a dance after dismissing Rohit Sharma in BGT 2024-25 3rd Test
Team India skipper Rohit Sharma was dismissed for 10 runs in the early stages of Day 4 (Tuesday, December 17) of the third Border-Gavaskar series Test at The Gabba in Brisbane. He had begun from his overnight score of 0, before perishing to opposition captain Pat Cummins for the second successive time in the series. Cummins was seen celebrating with a little dance.
After a poor Test with the bat at the Adelaide Oval, Rohit Sharma was under pressure to deliver. In Brisbane, he had to walk out at a time of crisis yet again, with the scoreboard reading 44-4 in the first innings. The skipper could not find a rhythm as the constant rain interruptions took the spotlight. He could not get off the mark after his first six deliveries when the play was called off on Day 3.
The right-handed batter looked in better touch on Day 4, scoring a couple of boundaries, including a confident one against Pat Cummins. However, his stay ended in the 24th over when Cummins outsmarted him by pitching it full and getting the ball to move away while the batter was hanging back in the crease, expecting a short-pitched delivery.
Rohit's feet were stuck in the crease, as he attempted a tentative push to strike the ball towards the off-side. He got a healthy edge, which Alex Carey safely pouched behind the stumps.
Cummins was a fired-up unit after making the first breakthrough of the day. He unleashed a rendition of Mitchell Marsh's short-step jog celebration. Have a look at the dismissal right here:
Team India hanging onto dear life in Brisbane after Rohit Sharma's departure
The Men in Blue needed a strong performance from Rohit Sharma, a statement innings, to steer some momentum towards their side. However, yet another forgettable knock by The Hitman reduced the visitors to 74-5.
Team India have a mammoth task ahead of them to avoid the follow-on. They still trail by 351 runs to Australia's first-innings score. To battle towards a draw, the visitors will have to avoid the follow-on by any means and hope that rain shaves off a few overs over the last two days of the encounter.
