[Watch] Pat Cummins hits the top of off-stump with a peach to dismiss Rohit Sharma in BGT 2024-25 2nd Test

Team India captain Rohit Sharma departed cheaply yet again on day two of the second Test against Australia as Pat Cummins cleaned him up at the Adelaide Oval. Rohit's opposite number castled him with a sensational delivery as it struck the top of the off-stump, sending the visiting captain packing for 6 off 15 deliveries.

The dismissal occurred in the 21st over of the innings as the right-arm pacer started it to Pant, who took a single off the second ball to give the strike back to Rohit. The 37-year-old defended the third delivery comfortably and followed it up by leaving one outside off. However, Cummins was right on the money as he targeted the top of the off-stump as Rohit came forward to defend but missed it completely in the process.

Take a look:

Rohit, dismissed by Scott Boland in the first innings for 3, had an eventful stay at the crease. Left-arm speedster Mitchell Starc's bouncer struck the captain on the grill after hitting the bat. The very next delivery saw the on-field umpire give him out lbw but it turned out to be a no-ball. The veteran batter played a sumptuous cover drive in Starc's next over to give himself some confidence but was eventually dismissed for 6.

Meanwhile, the Aussie captain got their side on board with the wicket of KL Rahul off the short-pitched delivery. Scott Boland was equally penetrative, nipping out Yashasvi Jaiswal in the first ball of his innings, followed by Virat Kohli a few overs later.

Mitchell Starc struggled in his first spell but returned later to breach through Shubman Gill's defences, flattening his middle stump. The visitors ended day two on 128/5 and trail by 29 runs but have their last recognized batting pair of Rishabh Pant and Nitish Reddy at the crease.

Earlier in the day, Travis Head blasted 140 off 141 balls to give Australia a 157-run lead.
