[Watch] Phil Salt blasts Lockie Ferguson for two monstrous sixes in 28-run over during KKR vs RCB IPL 2024 match

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) opener Phil Salt gave his team just the start they needed by going after Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) speedster Lockie Ferguson during their face-off in Match 36 of IPL 2024 at the Eden Gardens on Sunday, April 21.

The visitors managed to keep Sunil Narine at bay at the start of Kolkata's innings. However, Salt ensured that the hosts didn't give the momentum away to the opposition. He smashed four boundaries and a couple of sixes off Ferguson and the latter had no answer to the carnage.

Lockie Ferguson tried change-of-pace deliveries and also altered his line and length. However, Phil Salt dismissed each delivery with disdain. Here's how the carnage unfolded:

The ploy to bring Ferguson into the attack didn't work for skipper Faf du Plessis, especially when Yash Dayal extracted a bit of swing in his first over.

Phil Salt's blitz gives KKR a headstart in powerplay

Phil Salt was dismissed for 48 off 14 balls, courtesy of Mohammed Siraj. The England opener tried to deposit a delivery into his pads over square leg, but failed to get enough distance and elevation. Rajat Patidar completed the catch and gave Bengaluru some much-needed respite.

Here's the video:

RCB gradually clawed their way back into the contest with the wickets of Sunil Narine and Angkrish Raghuvanshi. Yet, Salt's quickfire cameo ensured that the hosts still had 75 runs on the board after the powerplay despite losing three wickets.

KKR have Venkatesh Iyer and skipper Shreyas Iyer at the crease at the time of writing and the duo may look to consolidate a bit to set a platform for the big-hitters like Andre Russell and Rinku Singh to follow.

RCB will know they need to keep chipping away with wickets as Kolkata bat deep and can post a mammoth total with the start they have got.
