England opener Phil Salt displayed his incredible six-hitting ability with a monstrous 106-meter maximum against ace pacer Mitchell Starc in the clash against Australia. The two sides faced off in the 2024 T20 World Cup in Barbados on June 8. Chasing 202 for victory, England got off to the perfect start at 18/0 in two overs.
Starc ran in for his second over and the third of the innings when Salt decided to take the attack to him. The 27-year-old belted a full delivery on the stumps from the Aussie pacer over wide long-on for a gigantic six of 106 meters. It was also the longest six of the tournament thus far, drawing cheers from the crowd.

Phil Salt has been in sensational recent form with a brilliant IPL 2024 season with the champions Kolkata Knight Riders before the T20 World Cup. The swashbuckling opener scored 435 runs at an average of 39.55 and a strike rate of 182.01 in 12 games.
Following the maximum off Starc, Salt played several good-looking shots to move to 37 off 22 deliveries. However, his stay was cut short when Adam Zampa cleaned him up off the first delivery of his spell.
Salt's dismissal ended an excellent opening partnership of 73 from 43 deliveries for England.
Australia take control after Phil Salt's dismissal
After a terrific start from Phil Salt and Jos Buttler, Australia forced their way back into the contest with Zampa removing both batters. England were still in a solid position at 93/2 in 10 overs when Marcus Stoinis dented them further by removing dangerman Will Jacks.
At 99/3 in 11 overs, the run-chase was slipping away from the English, who struggled to cope with the two-paced nature of the wicket after the powerplay. Moeen Ali brought the defending champions back into the game with three sixes off Glenn Maxwell in the 14th over to reduce the equation to 78 off 36 balls.
Yet, the Aussies dealt England another massive blow with Josh Hazlewood removing Jonny Bairstow for a dismal 13-ball 7. With Ali also eventually holing out to the deep, England are way behind the rate at 136/5 in 17 overs.
