[Watch] Phoebe Franklin takes a stunning running catch in The Hundred Women’s Competition

Welsh Fire’s player Phoebe Franklin took a brilliant catch, sprinting in from the boundary against Trent Rockets in the 14th match of The Hundred Women’s Competition 2024. The match is being played at Trent Bridge, Nottingham.

The dismissal came on the 44th ball of Trent Rocket's inning. Welsh Fire’s bowler, Georgia Davis, fired it quick on the middle and off. Natasha Wraith positioned herself and slogged it but was caught at deep mid-wicket by Phoebe Franklin, who came running from the deep and pouched it perfectly to get a wicket for her team.

Here’s the video of the dismissal:

Before departing, the keeper-batter scored 28 runs off 24 balls. Natasha’s wicket left her side at 55/3 after 44 balls. Georgia Davis conceded 23 runs in 20 balls and took one wicket.

Trent Rockets Women recovered well after early setbacks

Trent Rockets captain Nat Sciver-Brunt won the toss and chose to bat. However, the Trent Rockets didn’t get an ideal start as they lost their openers within seven balls. Bryony Smith (0) was dismissed on the first ball of the match by Freya Davies. Her partner, Grace Scrivens, also went without scoring; she was dismissed by Beth Langston.

Natasha Wraith and Nat Sciver-Brunt stitched together a 52-run partnership in 37 balls to bring things on track for the Trent Rockets. Natasha was dismissed by Georgia Davis on 28; Phoebe Franklin took a brilliant catch to break the partnership. Captain Nat scored 37 runs off 26 balls.

Towards the end, Ashleigh Gardner (31 off 26 balls) and Heather Graham (27* off 18 balls) powered the Trent Rockets to 130 runs in 100 balls. Meanwhile, Jess Jonassen took two wickets for the Welsh Fire Women.

Welsh Fire are currently third in the points table, having won two of their three games. On the other hand, the Trent Rockers are second last, managing to win only one game from three.
