[Watch] Piyush Chawla sends back Jos Buttler with googly, brings out trademark celebration in RR vs MI IPL 2024 clash
Piyush Chawla took the crucial wicket of in-form Jos Buttler to provide Mumbai Indians with their first breakthrough against Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 game at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Monday, April 22.
The leg-spinner bowled a googly to deceive and dismiss Buttler for 35 runs off 25 balls in an innings comprising six boundaries. The Royals lost their first wicket for 74 runs.
The dismissal came in the eighth over of RR's run chase. Chawla bowled a googly as Buttler went for a pull shot but was foxed as the ball sneaked in between the bat and pad and crashed onto the off-stump. It was also a quicker one (94 kmph) from the experienced spinner.

Buttler has been one of the leading run-scorers in IPL, scoring 285 runs in seven matches at a strike rate of 146.90, including two centuries against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
MI set a 180-run target for RR in IPL 2024 clash
A clinical batting display from Tilak Varma and Nehal Wadhera helped MI post 179/9 against RR in IPL on Monday.
Varma top scored with 65 runs off 45 balls in an innings laced with three sixes and five boundaries. Wadhera scored a quick-fire 49 off 24, including four maximums and three fours. The duo shared a 99-run partnership for the fifth wicket to help Mumbai recover from 52/4. Skipper Hardik Pandya, Mohammad Nabi, and Suryakumar Yadav were the other three batters to reach double digits.
Sandeep Sharma starred with the ball for RR, returning with career-best figures of 5/18 in his four overs. Trent Boult bagged two wickets, while Yuzvendra Chahal and Avesh Khan shared one each.
In response, the Royals were 135/1 after 14 overs, with Yashasvi Jaiswal and captain Sanju Samson at the crease.
RR are currently placed top of the points table with six wins in seven matches. They will next play Lucknow Super Giants at Ekana Cricket Stadium on April 27.
On the other hand, MI are seventh with three wins in seven games. They will lock horns with Delhi Capitals at Arun Jaitley Stadium on April 27.
