[Watch] "Preparation is key"- Ishan Kishan trains intensely in the nets aiming to make a comeback
Team India wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan has commenced training in the nets after taking a break from the field. He was last seen on the field during IPL 2024 when he turned up for the Mumbai Indians (MI).
Ishan had an average season with the bat, scoring 320 runs across 14 games at an average of 22, including a solitary half-century.
Ishan Kishan took a break from cricket due to travel fatigue in December last year and missed the South Africa tour. He has not played for India in any series since then. He made a comeback during IPL 2024 but failed to impress as he could not score consistently.
The southpaw has also been under fire due to his non-participation in domestic cricket, even after the BCCI instructed him and other available players to do so. It resulted in him losing the central contract. Ishan is now aiming to make a comeback as he commenced training in the nets to prepare himself for the upcoming season.
He gave a glimpse of it on his Instagram handle by sharing a video. Kishan captioned the post:
"Preparation is key🦾🏏."

"I was not feeling well or right and so I decided to take a break"- Ishan Kishan
During a recent conversation with Indian Express, Ishan Kishan revealed that he was depressed after losing the central contract. He opened up about his frustrations after finding himself on the bench of the Indian team after scoring runs consistently.
Ishan said:
"It was depressing. Today I don’t want to say that everything was fine. It was not easy for me at all. You go through a lot. I was scoring runs and then I found myself on the bench. These things do happen in a team sport. But I experienced travel fatigue. It meant there was something wrong, I was not feeling well or right and so I decided to take a break. However, sadly, barring my family and few close people no one understood that."
On dealing with the difficult period, he continued:
"What stresses you out is how your parents are taking it. How they are dealing with it. When you get to know that they are equally affected, it hurts you, and kills you from inside. But at that point in time, my family members were very supportive. They backed me and my decisions. They understood that I was not feeling well. They understood my situation."
