[Watch] R Ashwin confused, nothing on Snicko, but Mitchell Marsh given out in BGT 2024-25 2nd Test
Veteran Team India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin seemed puzzled after having Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh caught behind. Surprisingly, the snickometer showed no spike to conclude that there was an edge.
On the fourth ball of the 63rd over, Ashwin bowled a delivery outside the off stump that turned a bit and seemed to have turned away to beat Marsh's bat. Ashwin made half an appeal with Rishabh Pant chiming in from behind the sticks and the umpire raised the finger.
Marsh walked back without much protestation, with the Indian team celebrating the fall of his wicket. However, the big screen at the venue and replays showed no bat involved, with the snickometer reading showing a flat line when the ball goes past the bat.
Take a look at Marsh's dismissal below:
Marsh was dismissed for 9 off 26 balls. He was the fifth Australian wicket to fall and the fourth today. His wicket brought wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey to the middle.
Australia continue to pile on misery on the visitors as Travis Head gets to his century in the BGT 2024-24 2nd Test
Australia continue to add runs on the board, with the host batters going hammer and tongs against the visiting bowling attack. Travis Head has scored boundaries at a fair rate and has got his hundred, his seventh in his Test career. He is being joined in the middle by Travis Head.
For Team India, Ravichandran Ashwin was the only bowler in the session to pick up a wicket. Jasprit Bumrah, Harshit Rana, and Mohammed Siraj have also bowled a couple of overs but haven't succeeded in getting a breakthrough.
At drinks break, Australia scored 273/5 in 75 overs and are leading by 93 runs. They are currently 0-1 behind in the five-match Test series.
