[Watch] Rakheem Cornwall picks up a 5-wicket haul in BR's win over SNP in CPL 2024

Barbados Royals all-rounder Rakheem Cornwall picked up a memorable five-wicket haul in a dominant nine-wicket win over the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the 2024 Caribbean Premier League (CPL). He ended with figures of 5-16 and was adjudged Player of the Match as Barbados secured their fifth win in six matches.

After putting the Andre Fletcher-led side into bat, Barbados Royals were dominant with the ball at the Kensington Oval. Naveen-ul-Haq dismissed Evin Lewis and Kyle Mayers inside the powerplay as Cornwall came into play in the middle overs.

The off-spinner picked up two wickets off his first two deliveries, dismissing skipper Andre Fletcher and Mikyle Louis. After being hit for a six by Wanindu Hasaranga to close out the over, Cornwall came back strongly by dismissing the Sri Lanka all-rounder soon after.

In the latter half of the spell, he accounted for the wickets of Odean Smith and Ryan John to pick up the first five-wicket haul of his T20 career.

"I just backed myself and put the ball in the good areas" - Rakheem Cornwall

The all-rounder had a forgettable 2024 CPL campaign until his five-wicket haul against the Patriots. Cornwell recorded three consecutive ducks while opening the innings with Quinton de Kock after starting the tournament with a quickfire 34 in the win over the Falcons.

"Yeah it was a good performance. I just backed myself and put the ball in the good areas. I enjoyed every wicket and backed my skills. The team backed me as well. The support over the past four games has been massive. Hopefully, we have given them something to cheer," Cornwall said during the post-match presentation.

Barbados Royals are leading the CPL 2024 table with 10 points.
