[Watch] Rashid Khan jokingly tells Suryakumar Yadav not to sweep his deliveries in IND vs AFG T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8 match

Afghanistan skipper Rashid Khan and Team India middle-order batter Suryakumar Yadav had a fun banter during the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8 clash at Bridgetown, Barbados. The right-handed batter played a couple of powerful sweeps against the spin wizard in the clash on June 20. Rashid then sarcastically told him not to play the shot as the conversation unfolded between the two.

The incident supposedly occurred after the 10th over of the innings. The 33-year-old collected a four and a six off Rashid to put some pressure on the opposition skipper. Then the conversation took place, but it hardly seemed as a heated one as Rashid was also caught smiling.

Earlier, the Men in Blue won the toss and opted to bat first as Rohit Sharma cited the slowness of the surface behind the decision. However, the inaugural T20 World champions lost Rohit Sharma cheaply in the third over of the innings.

Rashid Khan landed two body blows by dismissing Rishabh Pant and Virat Kohli, followed by Shivam Dube. He finished with outstanding figures of 4-0-26-3 and the pick of the bowlers for their side.

The Mumbai Indians star didn't let Afghanistan bowlers settle as well as they would've liked on what appeared as a tricky surface to bat on. His 60-run partnership with Hardik Pandya was critical.

Suryakumar brought up his half-century off only 27 deliveries with a boundary off Fazalhaq Farooqi. He perished in the 17th over of the innings, holing out to long-on where Mohammad Nabi took a skier.

Pandya also contributed 32 off 24 deliveries with three fours and a couple of sixes, while Axar Patel gave the appropriate finishing touches. They helped India reach 181/8 in 20 overs.

Along with Rashid, Farooqi also took three wickets and took his tally to 15 scalps in five innings at 7.53 apiece in the tournament.
