Team India's Ravichandran Ashwin was seen having some fun with teammate Devdutt Padikkal during the side's recently concluded Brisbane Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. When the veteran spinner was seated in the dugout, a fan shouted 'ee sala cup namde (this time the cup is ours)' at him.
The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) fan also urged Ashwin to join the franchise in the future. After hearing the viral chant, the senior player cheekily pointed to Padikkal, who was roped in by RCB at the IPL 2025 auction.

It is worth mentioning that Ravichandran Ashwin was not part of the Indian playing XI for the Brisbane Test. Following the match, the 38-year-old announced his retirement from international cricket. He finished his career as India's second-highest wicket-taker across formats, with 765 scalps to his name.

Ravichandran Ashwin confirmed that while he was retiring from international cricket, he would continue playing franchise cricket. He stated that he still had some cricket left in him, which he would want to showcase at the club level.
Speaking about his retirement, Ashwin said (via 7cricket):
"This will be my last day as an Indian cricketer in all formats at the international level. I feel there is a bit of punch in me left as a cricketer, but I would like to showcase that at club-level cricket. This will be the last day, and I have had a lot of fun. I must say I have played and made a lot of memories alongside Rohit and several of my other teammates, although I have lost a few of them now over the last few years. We are the last bunch of OGs if we can say that, left in the dressing room.
"I will be marking this as my date of playing at this level. Obviously, there are a lot of people to thank, I would be failing in my duties if I didn't thank the BCCI, and fellow teammates, several of them. I want to name a few of them, all the coaches who have been a part of this journey, most importantly Rohit, Virat, Ajinkya, Pujara who have taken those splendid catches around the bat to give me the number of wickets I have managed to get over the years."
Ravichandran Ashwin was roped in by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for ₹9.75 crore at the IPL 2025 auction, marking a homecoming for the Chennai-based bowling all-rounder.
