[Watch] Ravichandran Ashwin provides an early breakthrough for Dindigul Dragons in TNPL Qualifier 2
Star off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin struck early for the Dindigul Dragons against the IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans in Qualifier 2 of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2024. The match was played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Friday, August 2.
The Dindigul Dragons won the toss and chose to bowl first. The skipper brought himself into attack in the fourth over and dismissed Tushar Raheja on the fourth delivery.
Ashwin bowled a brilliant off-break, tempting Tushar to come down the track. The left-handed player tried to hit it out of the park, but the ball spun away. The keeper got an easy stumping as the Dindigul Dragons got an early wicket.
Tushar scored eight runs in the same number of deliveries. His wicket left the IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans at 24/1 after 3.3 overs.

Ashwin was the Player of the Match in the Eliminator game against Chepauk Super Gillies.
The right-handed batter scored 57 runs off 35 balls, smashing four fours and four maximums while chasing a target of 159. His knock helped the Dindigul Dragons defeat Chepauk by four wickets with one ball remaining to qualify for Qualifier 2 in TNPL.

After being asked to bat first, the IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans didn’t have a great start as they lost opener Tushar Raheja (8) in the fourth over in TNPL. His partner, Amit Sathvik, was dismissed on 16 by Sandeep Warrier in the last over of the batting powerplay.
The Dindigul Dragons then took three wickets in the next three overs as the IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans found their back against the wall. Maan Bafna (26 off 19 balls) tried to play some shots but was dismissed by P Vignesh to break the 42-run partnership for the sixth wicket.
At the time of writing, IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans were 83/6 in 14 overs, with S Ganesh (16) and Mohamed Ali (2) at the crease.
