[Watch] Ravichandran Ashwin shows off his dance moves as Dindigul Dragons win TNPL 2024

Ravichandran Ashwin was seen dancing his heart out along with other Dindigul Dragons teammates as they lifted their maiden Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) title on Sunday, August 4. The final game of TNPL 2024 saw the Dindigul Dragons clash against the Lyca Kovai Kings.

Batting first, the Kovai Kings only managed to score 129, with Ram Arvindh (27) emerging as the top-scorer. The Dragons bowlers were brilliant, as they didn't allow the Kovai Kings to build any decent partnership. Sandeep Warrier, Varun Chakravarthy, and P Vignesh took two wickets each.

In reply, the Dragons lost Shivam Singh in the second over. Ravichandran Ashwin came to bat at No. 3 and played a captain’s knock on the night of the final.

The veteran spinner scored 52 off 46 balls, smashing one boundary and three maximums. Later, C Sarath Kumar remained unbeaten on 27 of 15 balls, as he won the game for the Dindigul Dragons by hitting a six.

In the team hotel, the Dragons captain was seen dancing alongside other team members as they celebrated their victory.

Apart from his contribution with the bat, the star all-rounder impressed with figures of 0/13 off four overs and won the Player of the Match award in the final.

“Glad I could play the whole season this time around” - Ravichandran Ashwin after he guides Dindigul Dragons to victory

Ravichandran Ashwin had a brilliant tournament, as he stood on fifth on the list of top-run-getters. The Dindigul captain scored 252 runs in nine innings, including three fifties. He also bagged nine wickets in the tournament.

At the post-match presentation, Ashwin said:

"We didn’t start the tournament very well but picked up momentum at the right time. The perfect match pretty much. I came into this tournament with the intent of opening. I wanted to open but after the first couple of games we had a discussion to keep me lower down the order because the wickets were slow, just for a psychological edge."
"But leave the cricket aside, I had a great time going all around Tamil Nadu with this team. I have been wanting to play the full tournament for the last two years, but couldn’t play the whole season last time around. Glad I could play the whole season this time around," he continued.

Ravichandran Ashwin will be next seen representing India in the Test series against Bangladesh in September.
