[Watch] Ravindra Jadeja brings out trademark sword celebration after reaching his fifty in BGT 2024-25 3rd Test

Veteran India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja rose to the occasion, scoring a crucial fifty and marking the achievement with his signature sword celebration on Day 4 (Tuesday, December 17) of the third Test of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The game is being played at The Gabba in Brisbane.

On the fifth ball of the 50th over of India's first innings, Jadeja seized a quick single off Mitchell Starc, bringing up his 22nd Test fifty.

The 36-year-old was sidelined for the first two tests but has made an impact in the ongoing third match. He is playing his 78th Test and has so far scored 3,287 runs at an average of 35.72, with 22 fifties and four centuries to his name.

In a match heavily disrupted by rain, Australia posted 445 runs in their first innings, thanks to impressive centuries from Steven Smith (101) and Travis Head (152), while Jasprit Bumrah claimed six wickets for India.

In response, India's batters struggled in the overcast conditions, losing Yashasvi Jaiswal (4), Shubman Gill (1), Virat Kohli (3), and Rishabh Pant (9) cheaply. By the end of Day 3, India were 51-4 after 17 overs, with KL Rahul (33) and Rohit Sharma (0) at the crease.

On Day 4's first ball, Smith dropped a sitter off KL Rahul, offering him a reprieve. However, shortly after, Rohit was dismissed for 10. Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja then put together a 67-run partnership off 115 balls. Rahul played a solid knock, making 84 off 139 balls, including eight boundaries.

Jadeja also looked confident in his comeback Test, reaching fifty. At the time of writing, with play halted due to rain, India were 180-6 after 51.5 overs, with Jadeja (52) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (9) at the crease.
