[Watch] Ravindra Jadeja perishes for 77 while going for a big shot against Pat Cummins in BGT 2024-25 3rd Test
Australia captain Pat Cummins dismissed India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja for a solid 77 on day four of the ongoing Brisbane Test. Jadeja miscued a short ball from Cummins and Mitchell Marsh took the catch cleanly with a forward dive.
The dismissal came in the 66th over of India's first innings as Cummins sent down a short ball, and the Saurashtra all-rounder replied with a hook. Marsh was stationed in the deep for that particular shot, and he made no mistake in completing it as Cummins got his fourth wicket of the innings.
Here's the dismissal:
Marsh had taken two outstanding catches on day three of the Test to see the backs of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill, with both wickets going to Mitchell Starc.
Pat Cummins and Co. fail to enforce the follow-on in Brisbane Test
With the visitors getting reduced to 213/9 in reply to Australa's 445 following Ravindra Jadeja's dismissal, Australia would have hoped to make India, who were still 33 runs away from avoiding the follow-on, bat again. However, Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep combined for a gritty and unbroken 39-run stand to help India evade the follow-on.
At stumps on day four, India trail by 193 runs. The visitors began the day at 51/4, trailing by 394 runs, but KL Rahul (84) and Ravindra Jadeja (77) struck solid half-centuries to hold off Australia's charge.
Pat Cummins was the pick of the bowlers with four wickets, while Mitchell Starc took three scalps, followed by Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon getting one.
However, as Hazlewood left the ground due to calf soreness, the hosts are now down to only two frontline pacers for the last day of the Test.
