[Watch] RCB contingent celebrates after epic win against CSK takes them into IPL 2024 playoffs
The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) contingent and their fans were over the moon after clinching a 27-run victory against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday (May 18). With their sixth consecutive victory, the RCB side joined the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Rajasthan Royals (RR), and SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the playoffs this season.
It has been a rollercoaster ride for the Bengaluru franchise this year as they were down and out in the first half of the season, losing seven of their eight games initially and spending a lot of time at the bottom of the points table. However, they did not give up and kept fighting valiantly to turn around their season and made a comeback for the ages.
They put on a collective effort in all departments against CSK in a must-win game on Saturday. The batters did their job by taking their side to a daunting total of 218 in the first innings. The bowling and fielding departments then complemented the efforts in the second innings to help RCB notch up a memorable win. The emotions of players, fans and support staff members of the home team ran high after the victory as they indulged in exuberant celebrations.

"They changed their name this year and have changed their deeds" - Aakash Chopra after RCB beat CSK in IPL 2024
Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra heaped praise on the RCB franchise for making a stunning comeback in IPL 2024 and reaching the playoffs. Reviewing their performance in the season in a video shared on his YouTube channel, Chopra said:
"What a game, what a season. Such comebacks are also possible. The Royal Challengers Bengaluru did an incredible job - Royal Comeback Bengaluru. They changed their name this year and have changed their deeds. The start was not that good. It seemed like they wouldn't be able to go anywhere. Take a bow."
He added:
"Fantastic, whether it was Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis or Yash Dayal. Remember, there was a night when 29 runs were scored in the last over, five sixes, and today was a night where despite being hit off the first ball, he didn't even concede 11 runs off the next five balls. They have reached the playoffs after a disastrous start to the tournament."
