[Watch] Renuka Singh takes revenge after being slammed for 6 by Dilara Akter in IND vs BAN Women’s Asia Cup semifinal

India's Renuka Singh took her revenge against Bangladesh's Dilara Akter, dismissing the opening batter right after conceding a six on Friday, July 26. The Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium is hosting the Women’s Asia Cup 2024 semifinal between India and Bangladesh.

The dismissal came in the opening over of Bangladesh’s innings. Akter smashed a six off Renuka's third delivery towards deep backward square leg. The right-hander tried to repeat the shot off the next delivery but ended up playing it straighter and Uma Chetry took an easy catch at deep mid-wicket.

Notably, India captain Harmanpreet Kaur made the fielding change after that six. She moved Uma from deep backward square leg to deep mid-wicket.

A clinical bowling display from Renuka Singh helped India dominate Bangladesh in the early exchanges of the Women’s Asia Cup semifinal. She finished with excellent figures of 3/10 in her four overs, including a maiden.

With seven wickets in four innings, she also became the second-highest leading wicket-taker in the tournament. She is only behind Deepti Sharma (eight wickets – subject to change).

Defending champions India finished on top of the group-stage points table in the Women’s Asia Cup. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side registered consecutive wins over Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates, and Nepal. The seven-time winners will look to continue their unbeaten run in the T20 tournament.

On the other hand, Nigar Sultana-led Bangladesh are coming on the back of two consecutive wins over Thailand and Malaysia. The 2018 champions, however, lost to Sri Lanka in their opening clash.
