[Watch] Rishabh Pant falls to Pat Cummins for 9 in BGT 2024-25 3rd Test

Team India's wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant was unable to rise to the occasion, falling for a low score after being dismissed by Australia captain Pat Cummins on Day 3 (Monday, December 16) of the third Test of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The game is being played at The Gabba in Brisbane.

The dismissal occurred on the fifth ball of the 14th over of India's first innings. Cummins bowled a good-length delivery just outside off, drawing Rishabh Pant forward. The ball moved slightly away, catching the outside edge and going straight into the hands of wicketkeeper Alex Carey.

Rishabh Pant scored nine runs off 12 balls and his dismissal left the visitors in a tough spot at 44-4 after 13.5 overs.


India lose four early wickets in rain-affected proceedings on Day 3 of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy 3rd Test

Centuries from Travis Head (152) and Steven Smith (101) helped Australia surpass 400, with the team finishing Day 2 of the third Test of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Brisbane at 405-7.

On Day 3, the rain-affected morning session saw Australia add 40 runs before being bowled out for 445. Alex Carey contributed a solid 70 off 88 balls, while Jasprit Bumrah claimed six wickets for India.

In response, the visitors lost opener Yashasvi Jaiswal on the second ball of the innings to Mitchell Starc. The left-handed batter played a loose shot to a half-volley on middle and leg, sending it straight into the hands of Mitchell Marsh at short mid-wicket.

Marsh was in action again, taking a superb catch at gully as Starc claimed his second wicket, dismissing Shubman Gill for one off three balls. Soon after, veteran batter Virat Kohli chased a wide delivery and edged it, with wicketkeeper Carey completing a simple catch to dismiss him for just three runs.

Rishabh Pant was the next batter to depart, dismissed for nine. At the time of writing, with play halted due to rain, India were 48-4, with KL Rahul (30) and Rohit Sharma (0) at the crease.
