[Watch] Rishabh Pant falls prey to the reverse-sweep yet again in IND vs BAN 2024 T20 World Cup Super 8 clash

Team India wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant perished to the ill-fated reverse sweep during the ongoing 2024 T20 World Cup clash against Bangladesh at the Sir Vivian Richards stadium in Antigua on Saturday, June 22. The left-handed batter tried to continue his assault on Rishad Hossain, but ended up finding the fielder to cut short his promising knock at 36.

Rishabh Pant continued to flourish in his newfound No. 3 role, coming to bat in the powerplay following Rohit Sharma's dismissal in the fourth over. He initially played second fiddle to Kohli, and scored his first boundary after 10 deliveries. He then switched gears by scoring a flurry of boundaries, first against Mustafizur Rahman and then against Rishad Hossain.

Pant tried to make the most of his favored match-up against the leg-spinner by smashing a six and a four in the first half of the 12th over. However, the left-arm batter tried to go for one shot too many for a potential third boundary in a row. He attempted a reverse sweep, and got a decent connection, but found Tanzim Sakib at short third.

Team India have recovered well despite Pant's untimely dismissal. They were placed at 108-4 in the 12th over, and then Pandya and Dube played handy cameos to propel the side to a healthy total.

Pant is still the leading run-scorer for India in the ongoing World Cup, and his command over the new role has had a huge impact in the ongoing unbeaten run.

Rishabh Pant lost his wicket while playing the reverse sweep in the clash against Afghanistan as well

The wicket-keeper has been making brilliant starts and laying a foundation, but has struggled to build on it and capitalize. He tried to take on Rashid Khan with the reverse sweep in the recently held Super 8 stage clash against Afghanistan.

Pant tried to execute the unorthodox shot, but the fullish delivery hit him straight on the pads, and he was plumb LBW. He had scored 20 runs off 11 deliveries in that match.
