[Watch] Rishabh Pant and Mitchell Marsh share lighthearted moment on Day 1 of BGT 2024-25 1st Test

Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant and Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh shared a lighthearted moment on Day 1 of the first Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 Test on Friday, November 22. The match is being played at the Perth Stadium.

Marsh came on to bowl his first over of the game after the lunch session. Following the over, both players were all smiles as the Australian all-rounder walked past Pant and gave him a fist bump. The duo were teammates for the Delhi Capitals from 2022 to 2024, highlighting their camaraderie.

Rishabh Pant and Mitchell Marsh have both been released by Delhi ahead of the IPL 2025 auction, which is scheduled for November 24-25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.


Mitchell Marsh takes two quick wickets in the second session of Day 1 of the BGT 2024-25 1st Test

After opting to bat first, the visitors endured a tough start, losing opener Yashasvi Jaiswal for a duck off eight balls. Devdutt Padikkal also faltered, dismissed for a duck after facing 23 balls. Seasoned batter Virat Kohli was undone by some extra bounce, departing for 5 off 12 balls.

KL Rahul appeared to be the most solid batter before a controversial decision ended his innings on 26 off 74 balls, which included three boundaries. At Lunch on Day 1, India were 51 for four after 25 overs, with Rishabh Pant (10) and Dhruv Jurel (4) at the crease.

All-rounder Mitchell Marsh sprang into action after Lunch, making an immediate impact by dismissing Dhruv Jurel for 11 off 20 balls in his second over. The 33-year-old then sent Washington Sundar back for four off 15 balls, leaving India struggling at 73-6 after 32 overs.

At the time of writing, the visitors were 74-6 after 33 overs, with Rishabh Pant (18) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (0) at the crease.
