[Watch] Rishabh Pant ousted by Ali Khan delivery that kept low in IND vs USA 2024 T20 World Cup clash

Team India wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant was dismissed in an unlucky manner in the ongoing 2024 T20 World Cup clash against the United States of America (USA). He departed after scoring 18 runs off 20 deliveries at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on Wednesday, June 12.

Pant had to come in as early as the third ball of the innings after Virat Kohli perished for a golden duck. The left-handed batter showed intent by scoring a boundary off Ali Khan's first delivery, but Rohit Sharma's dismissal at the other end did not help his case.

Along with Suryakumar Yadav, the wicket-keeper batter tried to repair the innings. They had dragged India to 36-2 after seven overs, with a huge task in the middle overs in sight.

However, Pant's stay at the crease ended in the very next over as Ali Khan came around the wicket. The right-arm pacer's length delivery kept low and skidded onto the stumps, leaving Pant stranded on the crease. He failed to bring his bat down in time and cut a helpless figure before making the walk back to the pavilion. Have a look at the dismissal right here:

Rishabh Pant has been among the runs in his new No.3 position in Team India's wins over Ireland and Pakistan in the tournament so far. He scored an unbeaten 36 to kick-start his campaign, and top-scored with 42 in the recent win over the Men in Green.

Team India have a steep run chase on their hands after Rishabh Pant's wicket

Pant's departure brought out Shivam Dube to the crease, who has struggled with the bat in the tournament so far. The left-handed batter is struggling for momentum while Suryakumar Yadav has settled at the crease. The latter holds the key to the run chase as it heads to its final stages.

Team India are placed at 67-3 after 14 overs and are 44 runs away from the target. Dube is tottering at 15 runs after facing 25 deliveries at the crease while Surykumar Yadav has scored a couple of boundaries after surviving a close call in the form of a dropped catch by Saurabh Netravalkar.
