[Watch] Rishabh Pant pays tribute to Indian athletes as Paris Olympics 2024 end
On Monday, August 12, cricketer Rishabh Pant took to his Instagram to congratulate Indian Olympic winners and participants as the 2024 Paris Olympics came to an end. The Indian wicketkeeper was last seen in action during the final game of the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka, which the hosts won 2-0.
As the Paris Olympics ended on August 12 at 12:30 am IST, the Indian cricketer shared a post on Instagram paying tribute to athletes for their hard work and wishing them the best in their future endeavors.
The left-handed batter shared a video that featured clips of several Indian athletes and wrote in the caption:
"As an athlete myself I know the hardships and sacrifice all would have made to represent our nation at the highest level. I'm sure all would have taken some great learnings form the games. Congratulations to all the winners and participants for representing India at the highest level. Wishing you all the very best. Jai Hind.🇮🇳."
The Indian contingent ended with six medals (one silver and five bronze). Tokyo Olympics gold medalist Neeraj Chopra won a silver medal at the Paris Olympics in 2024.
Manu Bhaker won a bronze medal in the women’s 10-meter air pistol event. Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh won bronze medals in the mixed 10-meter air pistol event.
The Indian hockey team won their second consecutive bronze medal at the Olympics. Swapnil Kusale made it to the podium in the 50-meter rifle event, winning a bronze. Meanwhile, Aman Sehrawat made the nation proud in the 57kg freestyle wrestling category, bagging a bronze.
Rishabh Pant to play in Duleep Trophy: Reports
Rishabh Pant is all set to return to red-ball cricket for the first time after the life-threatening accident. As per a report by ESPNcrininfo, the explosive batter is set to feature in the Duleep Trophy alongside big names, including KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav.
Pant has represented the nation in 33 Tests, scoring 2271 runs with five centuries to his name.
