[Watch] Rishabh Pant’s 107m six leaves KL Rahul and Glenn Phillips stunned in IND vs NZ 2024 1st Test
Team India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant smoked New Zealand's Tim Southee for a huge maximum on Day 4 (today, October 19) of the first Test between the two sides. The M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru is hosting the series opener of the three-match Test series.
After losing Virat Kohli late in the day, Pant walked out to bat alongside Sarfaraz Khan and was a bit slow to get off the blocks. He got back to his attacking best and smoked a couple of boundaries, reaching his half-century before lunch and stitching together a formidable partnership alongside Sarfaraz Khan.
In the post-lunch session, Sarfaraz and Pant batted well, with the former getting to his 150 and getting dismissed soon after. Pant continued along and on the third ball of the 87th over bowled by Southee, the southpaw struck a 107-meter six, sending it out of the ground.

That shot had left everyone stunned, with KL Rahul and Glenn Phillips' reactions being the ones to watch. Take a look at them here:
Rishabh Pant dismissed for 99 in the ongoing IND vs NZ 2024 Test match
Walking in at No. 5, Rishabh Pant played an exceptional knock of 99 from 105 balls. The batter displayed his wide repertoire of shots and hit the bowlers to all corners of the park. William O'Rourke managed to draw an inside edge of the bat on the first ball of the 89th over, with Pant chopping that one back onto his stumps.
Pant was dismissed in the nineties for the seventh time, making him the third Indian batter after Rahul Dravid (9) and Sachin Tendulkar (10) to be dismissed in that phase of the innings. He also became the second only Indian wicket-keeper batter after MS Dhoni (against England, Nagpur 2012) to be dismissed on 99.
