[Watch] Rishabh Pant scoops an outrageous reverse-pull against Scott Boland in 2nd BGT 2024-25 Test

Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant hit one of the shots of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy - an outrageous scoop, almost like a reverse pull-shot - against Scott Boland at the Adelaide Oval on Saturday, December 7. It sent the commentators into a frenzy and brought new life to the struggling Indian innings.

It happened on the third ball of the 17th over of India's innings. Boland, who had maintained a disciplined line and length in the channel since the start of the day, bowled it slightly short and outside off.

Pant pre-meditated a switch and went for it despite the difficult length and angle. It came out as a reverse pull that flew over the slip cordon.

Even the slightly shorter length from Boland came perhaps due to the first shot in the above video.

India were four down and under the pump when he came to bat, Boland had just taken out Virat Kohli with a superb away-nipper. On his first ball, the left-hander stepped down and drove him inside-out over the covers.

Even in that over, Boland's lines and length got shaken up and he leaked a few more runs.

Pant and Reddy holding India's last hopes

After this shot, India lost Rohit Sharma to a beauty from Pat Cummins. But Nitish Kumar Reddy came in and emulated Pant's approach against Boland, using his feet and quick hands to counter him, even hitting a four on the last ball of the day.

India went to stumps at a precarious spot of 128/5. Pant stood at 28 (25) and Reddy at 15 (14). With only Ravichandran Ashwin and Harshit Rana left in the lineup, India's hopes will bank on Pant and Reddy finding a way to get a partnership going under sunshine in the first session on Sunday.
